Board and Management Team

Mr. Oluseyi Kumapayi was appointed Deputy Managing Director, African Subsidiaries, Access Bank Plc, effective 20 October 2026, following his elevation from Executive Director, African Subsidiaries, a position he held since November 2020. He is a highly accomplished banking professional with over 25 years of experience spanning financial management, strategy, risk management, treasury and business development.

Mr. Kumapayi joined Access Bank in 2002 as Head of Financial Control and Credit Risk Management and served as Group Chief Financial Officer from 2007 to 2020. Prior to joining Access Bank, he held financial control and analyst positions with First City Monument Bank Limited and Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, respectively. Since joining the Bank, he has played a significant role in its strategic development and corporate actions, supporting its growth and expansion across key African and international markets. As Executive Director, African Subsidiaries, he helped expand the Bank's presence from 8 to 15 African markets, while strengthening the subsidiaries' financial performance, profitability and contribution to the Group.

In his current role as Deputy Managing Director, he retains responsibility for the African subsidiaries, with an enhanced mandate to improve profitability, capital productivity, operational performance and cross-border business integration. He also supports the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer in the broader leadership and strategic management of the Bank.

Mr. Kumapayi is an alumnus of Harvard Business School's General Management Program. He holds an Executive MBA from IMD, Lausanne, and an Executive Master's degree in Digital Transformation and Innovation Leadership from IE University, Madrid. He also holds a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Lagos and a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and has attended executive management development programmes at leading international institutions, including INSEAD and London Business School. He is a Non-Executive Director on the Board of the Bank’s Subsidiary in South Africa.
