Access FINEBS Initiative
The Financial Control and Enterprise Business Support Group, established an employee-volunteering project tagged ‘Access FINEBS’. This project is two-pronged; firstly, aimed at providing scholarship funds to students in secondary schools in partnership with the Human Development Initiative, Lagos State Ministry of Education and Wapic Insurance.
Secondly, the group reached out to people living with Down Syndrome at the Down Syndrome Foundation of Nigeria with the intention of improving their well-being and providing them with clean energy technologies. An energy audit of the Foundation’s facility in Fagba, Lagos was carried out, and the facility was equipped with solar panel solution and batteries.
This clean energy solution has eliminated the use of the diesel generator for 17 hours per day in the facility and 620 metric tons of C02, thus saving the Foundation 11,608 litres of diesel per year. Employees within the group committed over 221 hours to this project and thus impacted 66 inhabitants of the facility.
