The Morning After
Imade a commitment to live my life fully, not to hold back for any reason and embrace new experiences. This is why I did not ignore the thought of contesting for the Face of Access the moment it popped into my head.
I looked at myself in the mirror and asked, "why not Victory, what do you have to lose?" Today, I am genuinely happy that I gave myself the permission to try. Even though I did not win, this is the same audacity with which I intend to keep walking through life. I emerged as a finalist and participated in a 3-day photo shoot session where I met and formed a bond with the other amazing contestants from Nigeria and our subsidiaries. It
was a beautiful experience indeed.
Prior to joining Access Bank as a Treasury Analyst, I had genuine concerns that the artistic and expressive part of
me was going to fade away. So you can imagine how thrilled
I am at the opportunities and platforms the Bank has provided me to express myself. I have modeled, (via the
Face of Access competition), and participated in spoken word poetry at Bank events. Additionally, I co-hosted the Access SME Zone seminar on the 28th of August, 2020. Truly, I am genuinely thrilled at how one "Yes" has paved the way for many more.
Outside the four walls of banking, I spend my free time writing fiction, performing spoken word and blogging at victoryosas.com (you should check it out). The year 2020 came with a lot of surprises but I also decided to start a financial literacy column called "Financial Jagajaga", where I explain finance and economic news in simple terms for the non-finance person. Although, the initiative is currently on hold for the purpose of rebranding, I intend to keep influencing society positively through my work.
2020 has been unpredictable, so my last words to everyone reading this is to breathe, rest and remember to smell the roses on your way to the top.
