Early Savers Account


Early Savers Account is a savings account for children below the age of 16 years including unborn children. The account can be opened in trust for a child by the parent/guardian who will be the primary account holder with the responsibility of running this account until their child attains adulthood and can solely operate their own accounts or possibly move to other age appropriate product.

  1. Duly completed account opening form

  • Means of address verification

  • 1 passport photograph each for parent/guardian and child/ward

  • Parent’s valid means of identification- Note that a valid means of Identity with same address as quoted in the account opening package will serve both as means of ID and address verification.

  • Birth Certificate of the child OR International Passport.

  • 1 reference (this is only mandatory if you intend to lodge cheques in the account)

  1. You can transfer money into this account as you would any other account e.g.

  • By setting up a Standing Order to the Early Savers Account

  • By depositing cash/cheque into the account over the counter at any branch

The account holder will receive a statement monthly however, it can be issued at any time on customer’s request.

The account is owned by the child but controlled by the parent.

The child need not be physically present for the account to be opened.

Yes. The Early Savers Account can be opened for an unborn child

The child named on the account opening request will receive details of their new Early Savers Account by text and email, this will be sent to the email address and phone number filled in the account opening package.

No. As one of our savings discipline policy, ATM Card is not issued for this account. However, where the account holder turns 16 or older, the account will be migrated to a Solo Account where a debit card may be applied for.

The use of Access Bank Mobile Banking Platforms is discouraged on this account however, approval can be sort through your account officer.

The Early Savers Club is a financial literacy club for children in schools, faith based organizations and other suitable clusters for children. The objective of the club is to teach children about money, importance of savings, how to spend smart, planning for the future and the value of giving in a fun and interactive way.

The Early Savers Club will bridge this gap by equipping your children with the requisite skills and capability to be better money managers.

  • Provision of learning kits including work books, activity books, saving plan worksheets will be provided at no cost to child.

  • Opportunity to be taught by the best teachers on financial literacy

  • This knowledge will serve as competitive advantage for the child.

  • Exposure to practical financial management skills early in life amongst others.

No, According to the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, a child cannot run an account until he/she attains the age of 16years. 

Thus, the Access Early Savers account would be opened for the child, but will be operated by the parent/guardian until the child attains the age of 16years.

Primary target market: children between the ages of 0-16 (this is because their parents decision would be greatly influenced by them)

Yes, a minimum of N1, 000 must be maintained in the account at any point in time.

Yes, dividend warrants in the account holder’s name only can be paid into the account, subject to a maximum of N10,000. However, an approval can be sought through your account officer to lodge a dividend warrant of over N10,000.

Yes, other banks cheques/instruments in the name of the child can be paid into the account. However, the parent would be required to provide 1 reference to activate this service. 

Yes, parents can set up a standing order from their account to the child’s account.

No, there is no monthly maintenance fee charged on the product.
