the importance of taking the COVID-19 Vaccine
Dear Colleagues,
I trust we are all charged for a productive week ahead after a pleasant and restful weekend.
Since the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic back in March 2020, the virus has impacted almost every corner of life as we know it. Lives have been lost, and the way we work and interact with our loved ones is forever changed.
Importance of the COVID-19 Vaccination
Vaccines are a critical tool in the battle against COVID-19, and getting vacci nated is one of the best ways to protect yourself and others from the virus. The vaccine trains our immune system to recognize the targeted virus and create antibodies to fight off the disease without getting the disease itself. After vacci nation, the body is equipped to fight the virus thereby preventing illness. Choosing not to get vaccinated predisposes others to the virus.
People who have been fully vaccinated are able to resume everyday life and tasks freely without the fear of contracting the virus.
Efficacy of COVID-19 Vaccination
Like any vaccine, COVID-19 vaccines can cause mild-to-moderate side effects,these should go away on their own within a few days. The World Health Organisation body of experts on immunization have labelled the AstraZeneca vaccine as safe.
Getting vaccinated is safer than surviving the infection. Let us all continue to protect one another and stay safe. #WeCare
