Lunch Time
Lunch Time, Break Time!
Getting away from your desk at lunchtime seems to be an ever- increasing difficulty these days. I mean, who can take a break when there are so many deadlines? especially when it is just as easy to eat food while replying to emails? Or when you can just focus on the work entirely, because eating can wait!
Well, chaining yourself to a desk or scarfing down your lunch at your desk isn’t a recipe for success – it’s a recipe for disaster. Without taking adequate breaks from work, your physical and mental well-being begins to suffer. Taking a lunch break does not mean you are
unserious or lazy, it means you are being intentional about your overall wellbeing. Lunch breaks help you feel refreshed and ready to get back to work. It gives your brain time to rest and recharge; improves digestion; impacts your blood pressure and also helps you deal with work and life’s stresses. Sometimes you are tired and cranky, responding to customer complaints all day will make you want to scream. Your feelings are valid because you are human, so take a break. Taking your lunch break can make a real difference on how you feel and how much work you get through for the remaining half of the day.
Hungry or not, step away from your deskregardless.Takeawalk, retreat to a quiet place and just relax, read a book, listen to your favourite songs, phone a friend, respond to messages, interact with your colleagues. You can do anything just take a break.
Let’s normalise taking lunch breaks in the workplace.
