The fight continues
The Coalition Against COVID-19 are at it again in the ongoing fight to tackle Coronavirus in Nigeria.
On Saturday, 4th July, the Coalition donated N1.4bn worth of medical supplies and delivered an additional 26, 400 test kits to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Lagos office. The donation of these medical supplies and test kits has the capability to set up six fully functional COVID-19 medical laboratories and further expand the testing capabilities in the country bringing us a step close to combating this virus.
The contribution was received by Mrs. Babatunde Olajumoke the Deputy Director of NCDC Lagos office where she thanked the CACOVID team for all their support and contributions. She stated, the gesture has been integral in strengthening the national COVID-19 response.
The donations were welcomed by many as Nigeria is not out of the woods yet. The battle against the ongoing pandemic that has claimed so many lives across the globe continues. With the donations, the capacity to test, isolate and manage cases will increase and go a long way in helping the Federal Government reach its goal to afford testing to 3m people in 3 months.
CACOVID has committed a lot of resources to this cause and their efforts have undoubtedly saved so many lives and helped alleviate the lives of others through other contributions such as food palliatives. To date, CACOVID has committed billions of naira to build 38 fully equipped isolation centres across Nigeria with over 5,000 beds and critical medical equipment and supplies needed to fight the pandemic.
